Canon's new $3,500 5D Mark IV, introduced Thursday, adds a new variety called dual-pixel raw that lets photographers fine-tune focus after a shot was taken. Intel on Wednesday issued a recall of its Basis Peak fitness watch, urging owners to immediately discontinue use of the device out of conce overheating could cause bus.The company first shared its conces of overheating in June, pinning its hopes for a solution on a software update. That plan did not pan out as hoped, Intel said in a statement that urged customers to retu the devices immediately for a full refund. "We had hoped to update the software on your watch to address the problem," the company said in a statement. "Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we aren't able to develop such a solution without completely compromising the user experience. As a result, we are asking that you retu your Basis Peak watch and authorized accessories for a full refund at your earliest convenience."Intel bought Basis Science, maker of the Peak fitness watch, in 2014 for an undisclosed sum, although reports put the price tag at about $100 million.Intel said it has ended support for the Peak, adding that users will have until the end of the year to retrieve their data. Hillary 2016 tests your knowledge about the pressing issues, offers daily challenges to help elect Clinton, shares news and information about the Democratic candidate and gives you the ability to set up your own virtual campaign headquarters.You can also compete against friends and fellow Hillary supporters to see who knows the most about Clinton, and recruit other friends to join in. Firefox maker Mozilla is clamping down harder on Flash. Adobe Systems Firefox parent Mozilla is taking its battle against Adobe Flash a few steps further. In 2017, Firefox will require "click-to-activate approval" from you before you can trigger Flash-enabled videos and other Flash content on a website, Mozilla engineering manager Benjamin Smedberg said Wednesday in a blog post. This means the Flash content will remain dormant unless you actively click on a link or icon that says: "Activate Adobe Flash." You can currently do the same thing yourself in Firefox by manually setting Flash to "Ask to activate." But next year's move will be dramatic due to the new default status for all Firefox users. Adobe Flash has long been a necessary feature that enables web developers to offer games, video and streaming media via web browsers. But the Flash plug-in, which gets installed in the browser, has been blasted for its constant security holes and performance problems. The industry has been gravitating toward HTML5 as a replacement for Flash, though the move has been a slow one. Firefox has advised web developers who use Flash as well as Microsoft Silverlight for video to make the switch to HTML5 as quickly as possible. Smedberg said that Firefox supports encrypted video playback using Adobe Primetime and Google Widevine as alteatives to plug-in based video formats such as Flash. Mozilla isn't waiting until next year to start reining in Flash. Starting next month, the company will block certain Flash content not considered essential to the "user experience." At the same time, it will continue to support legacy Flash content, meaning content that can't be viewed any other way. Mozilla expects this move to offer "enhanced security, improved battery life, faster page load and better browser responsiveness," Smedberg said. Your phone will always show up as the default source, but now you can see Chromecast devices in the menu too, as long as both sources are connected to the same wireless source. Should this event have flattened itself in your mind, it involved the accusation that New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady ordered balls to be deflated to his preferred, nonstandard squeezeability for the AFC championship game last year. For this, he ultimately received a four-game suspension from the NFL. Football's goveing body claimed that Brady throwing away his cell phone suggested he had something to hide. (Brady claimed he'd simply switched from a Samsung device to an iPhone.)Affleck, famed Bostonian, is still outraged. He told Simmonds, "What they did was suspend Tom Brady for four games for not giving them his f***ing cell phone."He added, "Not giving your telephone -- they're not the FBI. Now you can control your Sonos speaker on an iOS device directly from the lock screen. The company just released a software update for its multiroom streaming speaker system that will allow customers to perform a wider range of iOS shortcuts, including quick navigation from the lock screen, Force Touch access to menus, Split View support, and more. Before version 6.3 was released today, iOS users had to unlock their devices and click over to the Sonos app to do things like change tracks or adjust the volume. Now, the company has enabled a shortcut that offers all those functions directly from the lock screen of any iOS device running version 8.0 or higher. Speaking of shortcuts, the company is also making multitasking a little easier on an iOS device by adding support for Split View and Slide Over. The former is convenient because it lets you use the Sonos app while running another app at the same time, while the latter offers a music control menu that can be hidden with a quick swipe.If you own an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, you can also access shortcut menus with Force Touch starting today: just press and hold your finger down on the app icon and additional screens will appear with a quick swipe. The app will cease to work on August 15.Amazon is offering an olive branch, however: the same email offers affected users a $15 discount on the Amazon Fire TV Stick with voice remote. (We'd suggest you opt for a Roku Streaming Stick instead, which also has the Amazon app, but is currently on sale for just $5 more.) So fans of Transparent and The Man in the High Castle can breathe a sigh of relief.Note that this isn't the first -- nor last -- time that a streaming video vendor has discontinued support for an older device. Plex Good news for Nvidia Shield owners: Not only can it run Plex's Android TV, but it will soon be able to run its Full Media Server, including support for hardware-accelerated video transcoding (H.264, MPEG2 and HEVC) with multiple simultaneous streams.For those who've never heard of Nvidia Shield it comes in three different versions: Android TV, Tablet K1, and Portable versions. All include a game controller. Android TV is its set-top streaming media and gaming box that has a 64-bit CPU and powerful GPU that lets you play games and stream content from a variety of sources at up to 4K resolutions.Plex says it's working on some final bits with the team at Nvidia that will be included in the Shield's next firmware update, scheduled for later this month. Microsoft's Windows Hello log-in feature will so offer support for wearables. Microsoft Bill Gates famously said that making Windows users type Ctrl+Alt+Delete to log in was "a mistake". Now, if Microsoft gets its way, typing could be phased out for good with the company unveiling a new way of logging in from your wrist. Microsoft used its keynote presentation at Computex in Taiwan to talk up the new features of Windows Hello, its biometric sign-in feature that lets you log in to your computer by using your face, fingerprint or iris. During a live demonstration of Hello, Microsoft also showed off a new feature: Signing in using a wearable. The head of Microsoft's Windows Interact division, Li-Chen Miller, demonstrated the technology using the Nymi Band, a third-party wearable that uses heartbeat detection to authenticate the wearer. By swiping her wrist past an NFC reader on her laptop, Miller logged in using Windows Hello, saying the process was "three times quicker than typing passwords." It all fits in nicely with Microsoft's goal of "evolving from today's keyboard and mice and touch, to use more human capabilities like pens, your voice, face and fingerprints," according to company Executive VP, Terry Myerson. The feature will roll out during the Northe Hemisphere summer, as part of the Window's 10 Anniversary Update. An entry for Raspberry Pi 3, a $35, small and simple computer, appeared on Google's Android Open Source Project page, according to Android Police. It's part of the same directory that also includes other Android phones. The addition of Android support would give it access to the world's most popular operating system, and let folks mess around with their own custom projects using Google's software. Google wasn't immediately available for comment.Hobbyists, developers and students have gravitated towards the Raspberry Pi, which is a simple motherboard with a CPU, graphics card, memory and a few other components.
