Canon's new $3,500 5D Mark IV, introduced Thursday, adds a new variety called dual-pixel raw that lets photographers fine-tune focus after a shot was taken. The South Korean electronics giant provided the more than 11,000 athletes competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics with a special edition Galaxy S7 smartphone.One country, however, has refused the free gift. According to a report from Radio Free Asia, North Korea prevented the country's 31 competing athletes from receiving the complimentary smartphone. The report claims a North Korean official went to the Samsung office and took all of the phones that were to be provided to the country's athletes.Kim Song I, a North Korean athlete competing in table tennis, reportedly shook her head when asked by Radio Free Asia if she had received the phone. Cell phone radiation can be a danger to soldiers, but maybe not for the reason you'd expect.Gen. Robert B. Neller, the top officer in the US Marine Corps, says those phones can give away a soldier's position. It's just one of the ways that mode comforts have made troops weaker, in his opinion. Speaking at a panel Tuesday on the future of expeditionary warfare, Neller told the audience that the military is now going back to basics, teaching sailors to navigate by the stars and soldiers how to use camouflage. Those skills hadn't been needed because the enemy didn't have planes, satellites, jammers and the ability to see the electromagnetic radiation spectrum, Neller said.
