Enlarge ImageEU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager in Brussels earlier this year. Thierry Charlier/AFP/Getty Images The European Commission is going after Google again, arguing that the tech giant has abused its position as the world's leading search engine by favoring its own shopping service in search results. The European Union's executive body also claims that the search giant has artificially restricted third-party websites' ability to display search advertisements from Google competitors. "Google has come up with many innovative products that have made a difference to our lives. FTC investigating Paypal's Venmo payment service - CNET

Venmo In its most recent 10-Q filing, Paypal Holdings stated that the FTC issued a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) request for documents related to possible deceptive or unfair practices by the company's Venmo peer-to-peer payment service at the end of March. (In fact, the language in the filing looks like was pulled directly from the FTC Act.) We reached out to Venmo for comment and got its stock response: As a global payments provider, we are completely aligned...

Uber is using technology to find out if passengers are getting a safe ride. Uber Is your Uber driver going too fast or stopping too short? The ride-hailing service says it will now be able to find out. Uber has been conducting a test program to measure the actions of its drivers, the San Francisco company said in a blog post Tuesday.
