Metallic fake tattoos are interactive, look like fashion accessories (Tomorrow Daily show notes) - CNET

MIT recently unveiled Duoskin, and even though it looks like a simple fashion accessory, these faux tattoos have some cool functions: they're connected, and can receive input, connect wirelessly, and even light up with the right setup. We're also checking out a new HoloLens demo from N3S, an NES emulator team tu ing 2D NES titles into slightly 3D experiences. The demo is in alpha, but it's another exciting showcase for what Microsoft's augmented-reality headset is capable of. Close ...

CNET UK podcast 492: Galaxy Note 7 astounds and Britney backs Apple - CNET

Sarah Tew/CNET Samsung's popped out yet another massive phone, but the Note 7 has made us sit up and pay attention -- underwater doodling, iris scanning, easy GIF creation? This might be the mobile to prove that these devices have a bit of creative life in 'em yet. On the UK's best tech podcast, Luke Westaway and Rich Trenholm debate the merits of Samsung's toy, including asking whether it's too pricey to battle with low-cost Android rivals. Elsewhere, Britney's back! In a storm of puns, we try and figure out why Brit has allied herself with Apple Music for her upcoming album. In other news, the iPlayer looph...

CNET UK podcast 491: Pokemon Go hasn't helped Nintendo, solar flight success and 'Jason Bourne' reviewed - CNET

Enlarge ImageHere's one I caught earlier. Then I took a screenshot, uploaded that to CNET's content management system and set it as this page's promo image, so everyone can see the wicked cool Vaporeon I caught. Screenshot by Luke Westaway/CNET Pokemon Go might still have an iron-tight grip on human social behaviour, but the mobile gaming phenomenon has done very little to line the coffers of Nintendo -- the House of Mario confirmed big quarterly losses, in the same week it reminded investors that it didn't actually, y'know, make the monster-catching game. Elsewhere the Solar Impulse sun-powered plane has completed its historic jaunt around the planet, and Amazon's Dash grocery scanner is coming to the UK ...

Amazon partners with UK government to test drone delivery - CNET

Amazon Amazon's Prime Air drone delivery system has been taking some time to get off the ground -- it was announced in late 2013, and the drone wasn't unveiled until November last year -- but it just got one step closer to the sky. Amazon has announced that it will be partnering with the UK Gove ment and the UK Civil Aviation Authority to test the drones for three key areas: operations outside line-of-sight in rural areas; sensor testing for hazard avoidance; and one-person operation of multiple drones. "Using small drones for the delivery of parcels will improve customer experience, create new jobs in a rapidly growing industry, and pioneer new sustainable delivery methods to meet future demand," said Ama...

"Star Trek Beyoooond!" This week's episode of the UK's best tech podcast brings you a spoiler-free examination of the new Trek flick. Is it simply mindless action, or does Simon Pegg's script for "Beyond" encapsulate the beating heart of Star Trek? It's not all pontificating on sci-fi future utopia though. Back in the significantly more bleak present day, British chip-designer ARM has been sold to Japanese telecoms giant SoftBank for £24.3 billion. Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders take over Comic-Con - CNET

Marvel's "Luke Cage" panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con was pretty eventful -- more like a Marvel-Netflix panel, it included new show announcements, surprise guests and teaser trailers galore. The panel, moderated by Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb, started with a compilation of various clips of the Marvel shows on Netflix and some audience participation which meant shouting the names of the shows -- I was in the "Jessica Jones" cheering section, thank you very much. Jon Be thal, who plays the Punisher on "Daredevil" and in the impending "Punisher" show, popped out for a quick appearance and talked about the responsibility of playing the character, knowing what he means to fans. What's important here is that you will wake up in the mo ing, stumble groggily into the kitchen, flip the switch on your coffee maker, catch sight of your planet-destroying toaster and start merrily humming the Imperial March.
