The British driving test will now include sat nav directions in a move to modeise the way people lea to drive.
The UK's Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) updated the test to reflect the fact that more than half of UK drivers use a satellite navigation device to guide them as they drive.
"Candidates will be given more responsibility for making decisions during the test," explained DVSA Chief Driving Examiner, Lesley Young. "We want them to show they can cope with distractions and assess risk without the intervention of their instructor or examiner."
The independent driving portion of the test will increase in length from 10 to 20 minutes, and manoeuvres such as reversing around a coer and tuing in the road are replaced with driving into and reversing out of a parking bay.
The changes will come into effect next year.
Of course, we wonder if it goes far enough in reflecting mode trends. We won't be happy until you're tested on your ability to Snapchat a selfie playing Pokemon Go without crashing into the self-driving car in front of you.
