As part of our coverage of Star Trek's 50th anniversary, I talked with a dozen cast members from across the franchise about everything from Star Trek's inclusive message to how it feels to be a sex symbol to nerds. Jeri Ryan didn't want the role at first. Alex also checked out his local Formula E race, and Drew snagged some awesome pictures from the Formula 1 race at Silverstone. Not a bad week, not a bad week at all.As for Roadshow, I spent the whole week with a Porsche 911 and managed to wrangle up enough restraint to not post 1,400 pictures. Tim went to Italy to drive the Aston Martin DB11, something that made the rest of us very jealous. Antuan checked out the new Accord Hybrid in a gorgeous shade of bronze, and Emme's off-roading Lexus vehicles in Oregon as part of the Heels and Wheels event. Jason Miller/Getty Images After black men Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were killed by police officers, social media was filled with extremes of anger. Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell expressed his ire by going to Instagram and posting an illustration of a masked man executing a police officer, ISIS-style. (You can view the image, which is disturbing, here.) His caption read: "Mood: They give polices [sic] all types of weapons and they continually choose to kill us... #Weak." The post was quickly removed. On Monday, Crowell posted an Instagram apology. It read, in part, "My values and beliefs do not match that image." He explained that watching black men die at the hands of the police made him emotional. He also referenced his sorrow about the five police officers who were murdered in Dallas during a protest sparked by the deaths of Sterling and Castile. Some might see a certain similarity between his post and the Twitter post of former Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh, in which Walsh seemed to threaten President Barack Obama and Black Lives Matter and claimed that "Real America" was coming after both. The only difference may be that Walsh didn't apologize. He appeared on CNN and said he wouldn't have removed the post but Twitter forced him to. Crowell, though, knows he is an NFL player many people look up to. Whatever anger he might have felt and however justified it might have been, the image was a hideous incitement. And it was particularly ill timed given that Cleveland is hosting the Republican National Convention next week and is thus especially conceed about security. Our San Francisco crew spent the week filming our small-crossover Rivals feature, going off-road with three cars that will probably never go off-road again. Enlarge Image Instagram Fresh off hitting 500 million users, Instagram has announced that user bios, comments and captions posted in foreign languages will be automatically translated to the user's native language. Now, we can better enjoy the snaps of breakfast, dogs and memes posted by our brothers and sisters abroad (and the occasional photo featuring actual humans, too). "The Instagram community has grown faster and become more global than we ever imagined," the company wrote in its post announcing the news.
