The photo-sharing social media service Instagram is rolling out some new features to help combat online trolls. Starting with what the company (which is owned by Facebook) calls "high-profile" accounts, some Instagram users will be able to both filter custom keywords out of the Idea section for their posts, as well as completely shut off Idea on individual posts.
"Our goal is to make Instagram a friendly, fun and, most importantly, safe place for self expression," an Instagram spokesperson told CBS News. (Disclosure: CNET is owned by CBS.) "We have slowly begun to offer accounts with high volume comment threads the option to moderate their comment experience. As we lea, we look forward to improving the comment experience for our broader community."
At first, these new features will be restricted to a small number of high-profile accounts, but access to these comment tools may expand to a larger number of users in the future.
