Is Elon Musk working on a self-driving bus? - Roadshow

Usually, when you try to keep a secret, you don't tell anyone that secret. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a bit different. He loves tossing out esoteric statements that leave the media guessing, and some of his more recent Idea makes it sound like he's working on something...big.

Bloomberg reports that Musk let slip some very interesting details during a transportation conference in Norway. "We have an idea for something which is not exactly a bus but would solve the density problem for ier city solutions," Bloomberg quotes Musk as saying.

"There's a new type of car or vehicle that would be great for [solving urban transportation issues] and that'll actually take people to their final destination and not just the bus stop," Musk continued. He made mention of autonomy before declining to discuss it further.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Musk were looking to break into public transportation. He's already inside the auto industry with Tesla, his Hyperloop system could stand as a viable alteative for longer trips and he's also already going to f$%&ing space, so it's not out of the question that his efforts would eventually involve buses or trains, as well. At the least, it's probably cheaper than going into orbit.
