Peter Capaldi and departing companion Jea Coleman in the BBC's "Doctor Who".
David Vei/BBCThe Doctor's new companion will be revealed today.
"Doctor Who" star Peter Capaldi will be joined by the new face on his adventures in the tenth season of the revived BBC hit show. We'll see them in action together in 2017.
The new name will be aounced today around 6pm British Summer Time (around 1pm Easte, 10am Pacific). The aouncement will take place during half time of the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United, shown on "Match of the Day" on BBC One.
Rumoured contenders for the role include relative newcomers Pearl Mackie and Georgina Campbell.
The Doctor is joined by a new companion and her Vans.
BBCOne thing we know about the new companion is that she favours Vans SK8-Hi Slim skate shoes, as seen in a teaser photo and video on the show's official Twitter feed.
The new companion steps into the shoes of departing Jea Coleman, who joined the show in 2012. Coleman will next be seen in as Queen Victoria in ITV drama "Victoria".
Season 10 of "Doctor Who", which originally began in 1963 and was revived in 2005, will be the last to be produced by showruer Steven Moffat. After this season Moffat is handing the reins to "Broadchurch" creator Chris Chibnall.
