Reddit users have seen evidence that Google's Play Store may be headed to their Chromebooks.
Reddit User InauspiciousPaganGoogle's Play Store and its millions of Android apps could be headed to Chromebooks and the Chrome operating system.
Screenshots posted by Reddit users on Sunday indicate that the integration of Google's app emporium into its desktop software might be imminent.
An image posted by user "TheWiseYoda" show an option in settings that reads: "Enable Android apps to run on your Chromebook," which then disappears. Ars Technica reported being able to replicate this on a second-generation Chromebook Pixel.
The company's aual developer's conference, Google I/O, is slated for May and usually sees Google aounce a slew of updates and changes to its operating system. It's unknown for sure as to whether the company intends to issue closer integration between Android and Chromes OS at the event, although Google Co-Founder Eric Schmidt hinted in November that the two operating systems might eventually merge.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
