Drone fans awaiting the launch of GoPro's Karma will have to wait a bit longer.
The aerial photography drone, which was expected to launch in the first half of 2016, won't land on retailers' shelves until the holiday shopping season, the company said Thursday in its first-quarter eaings report.
"While we had to make the difficult decision to delay our drone, Karma, the upside is that Karma's launch should now benefit from the holidays," Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO, said in the company's report. Woodman had previously said that the company was "seeking to be extremely differentiated from what existing drone companies are offering."
The delay means GoPro's drone will be hitting the market around the same time as the Hero5, its next-generation activity-capture camera. Speaking to Engadget earlier in the year, Woodman basically confirmed the Karma would be backward-compatible with the company's cameras.
