Watch 1,000 David Attenborough clips for free with BBC natural history app - CNET

David Attenborough, everyone's favourite chronicler of the natural world, tued 90 on Sunday. To celebrate, the BBC is making an app in the natural history presenter's honour, set to be released later this year.

Over 1,000 clips from throughout Attenborough's six decades in TV will be available to be viewed for free on the Story of Life app. The app is being created as a collaboration between the UK broadcaster and its commercial arm, BBC Worldwide.

The project will incorporate footage from some of Attenborough's best-loved documentary series, including "Planet Earth," "Africa" and "Frozen Planet," as well as clips from his early work, such as "Zoo Quest" from 1954.

"I've had the great privilege of being allowed to travel and discover the infinite variety of life on our planet and to share these stories with audiences all over the world," Attenborough told the Guardian. "To keep sharing those stories in a digital age means taking them online and I hope The Story of Life will reach and inspire a whole new generation."

Attenborough was recently honoured by having a £200 million polar research vessel named after him, a decision that overruled the British public, who voted that it be named RRS Boaty McBoatface.
