Centipede and Missile Command Atari games get movie deals - CNET

Video games can often translate into movie magic with a great cast and a stellar script.

Just look at the "Resident Evil" movie franchise or the Lara Croft "Tomb Raider" films starring Angelina Jolie -- with news of a reboot starring Alicia Vikander.

Now it seems classic Atari arcade games Centipede and Missile Command are getting tued into movies.

According to Deadline, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films have just signed a deal to produce two feature films based on the '80s video games.

The game Centipede focuses mostly on shooting deadly centipedes, spiders, scorpions and fleas weaving through a field of mushrooms.

The Missile Command game has the gamer protecting six Califoia cities -- Eureka, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego -- from smart bombs, bomber planes and satellites launching missiles.

It'll be interesting to see how relatively basic video games (think vector graphics) will translate into live-action movies with actors, sets and special effects.

Though directors, screenwriters and actors for both movies have yet to be announced, that doesn't mean fans can't start compiling their Centipede and Missile Command wish lists now. Who would you like to be cast in both films?
