Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 hits a home run in India - CNET

Xiaomi has long been a big player in China's smartphone game, but now that market is slowing, and India is the next big stage.

In what's a good sign for the company, Hugo Barra, Xiaomi's vice president of inteational operations, wrote a Facebook post on Tuesday aouncing the Redmi Note 3 had sold 600,000 units in two months.

"In just 60 days of weekly sales, we have sold over [600,000] units of Redmi Note 3 -- our biggest record yet," he wrote.

Redmi is Xiaomi's budget line of smartphones, with the Note 3 starting at 9,999 rupees, which converts to $150, AU$200 and £100. The company also offers more premium devices in their Mi series, like the latest Mi 5.
