Turns out, computers suck at writing poems - CNET

Computers might be able to beat you in board games but it's still a long way before they can outdo you in making poems. That's what we lea from a completion conducted by the scientists at Dartmouth College.

First reported by the Associated Press, the competition took place at the collage's Digital Arts Expo, where computers were put through the "Turing Test," named after British computer scientist Alan Turing. In this test, audience was asked to compare poems written by computers and those by human being to see if they could tell them apart. A cash prize of $3000 would be awarded to the creator of the computer of which the poem was be mistaken for that of a human.

At the end, the prize was unclaimed. No computer taking part in the contest was able to make a poem that was comparable or indistinguishable from that of a human.
