The Pirate Bay sails back its .ORG domain - CNET

Faced with a new ruling from the Swedish court that would confiscate its Swedish domains of ThePirateBay.se and PirateBay.se, torrent search site The Pirate Bay is moving back to where it first started in 2003, ThePirateBay.org.

The site is currently redirecting all traffic from the above two domains back to its original .ORG domain. The Pirate Bay had originally moved to .se in 2012, before making moves to various domains such as .SX, .AC before retuing to .SE in 2015. The alteative domains the site were using have all been seized.

While the moves were meant as a way to avoid shutdowns due to copyright lawsuits, the retu back to the .ORG could see potential action from the US, as the registry that manages the top level .ORG domains is based in Virginia.

Meanwhile, Pirate Bay co-founder Fredrik Neij is plaing to appeal the court decision.
