Netflix nabs rights to Caes award-wiing film 'Divines' - CNET

New movies are headed to your Netflix account, courtesy of a shopping spree that's seen the streaming service buy the rights to a slew of new films, including Caes award-wier "Divines."

Director Houda Benyamina took home the the coveted Caméra d'Or award at this year's Caes film festival for "Divines", a French drama about tough teen Dounia (Oulaya Amamra), who gets sucked into the world of drug dealers in a Paris ghetto. "Divines" will pop up on Netflix around the globe later this year, apart from in France, where it won't be available until 2019.

"Thanks to Netflix, Divines will cross borders and the world will be able to enjoy this universal story of love and friendship," director Benyamina said in a statement. "I am very happy with the collaboration with Netflix."

Other Netflix Caes acquisitions include Brazilian drama "Aquarius", Danish drama "The Day will Come", Lebanese "Very Big Shot", French films "Mercenary" and "Jouey to Greenland" and Indian thriller "Raman Raghev 2.0."
