Samsung's Galaxy Note smartphone line has been one number behind the company's S series phones since the Note's 2012 debut.
That may be changing in 2016, with reliable tipster Evan Blass reporting on Twitter on Saturday that Samsung's sequel to last year's Galaxy Note 5 will skip the number 6 and be named the Galaxy Note 7. Should this become official, the jump would bring the naming of Samsung's S-Pen equipped smartphones in line with the branding scheme for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Blass further tweeted that the phone would be packing an iris scanner, a 5.7-inch screen, 64GB of space expandable through a microSD card, a 12 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel camera. He also said it would be IP68-certified against water and come in black, silver and blue editions.
Samsung didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
