Facebook can resume using cookies to grab data on nonmembers in Belgium.
James Martin/CNETFacebook won an appeal in a Brussels court Wednesday in a case that pitted it against the Belgian Privacy Commission. An earlier ruling had ordered Facebook to stop using cookies, which are small bits of software that track website activity, to collect data on nonmembers. The win means Facebook can resume the practice.
In the meantime, Facebook had blocked nonregistered members from the site's public pages.
The Belgian privacy watchdog group, which originally brought the case in June 2015, said it will appeal that decision.
Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
