Here are the first official pictures of the Acura NSX GT3 racecar - Roadshow

Acura's released the first official pictures of the NSX GT3 ahead of its North American motorsports debut.

The automaker debuted its latest motorsport offering without much pomp or circumstance at this year's New York Inteational Auto Show. After that, well, it just sort of faded into the background. Until now.

Unlike the road-going NSX, which relies on a hybrid powertrain, the NSX GT3 makes do with just the traditional bit -- a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6. Power heads straight to the rear wheels by way of a six-speed sequential gearbox, which replaces the street car's nine-speed unit.

The body is lousy with carbon fiber, in order to keep weight down. It also sports a number of aerodynamic bits that don't exist on the road car, like that gigantic rear wing, canards and fender vents. A livery will eventually cover that bodywork, but for the time being, it's just lovely to take in.

NSX GT3 won't go racing until 2017, but the car is approved and ready to roll, so it's only a matter of time before this stunner hits the track. And I, for one, cannot wait.
