Forget the drama of "Pretty Little Liars" and action of "WWE SmackDown!," this week people are tuing to Twitter to talk about the Republican National Convention.
On Monday, 1.6 million tweets were sent by 449,000 people in the US about the first night of the RNC, according to Nielsen Social, which tracks Twitter activity around TV series and events. On Tuesday, 1 million tweets were sent by 325,000 people in the US.
While the RNC saw a decrease during its second night, it still far outpaced tweets about shows that aired at a similar time on Tuesday, like pro-wrestling program "WWE SmackDown!" and teen drama series "Pretty Little Liars," according to Nielsen Social.
Twitter activity around the RNC, which is being held at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, spiked both nights during prominent speeches. On Monday, 9,900 tweets were sent in one minute during Melania Trump's now-infamous speech, and on Tuesday, 5,900 tweets were sent in one minute during Ben Carson's speech, according to Nielsen Social.
The RNC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
