These two Teslas duke it out for speed queen bragging rights.

There's nothing quite like the smell of nitromethane racing fuel as two drag racers go at it, vying for speed supremacy. Unless you're racing a couple of electric vehicles. Drag-racing site DragTimes took two Teslas and pitted them against each other in a dramatic drag race worthy of "Top Gear."
DragTimes notes the Model X and Model S have the same motors and powertrain. The obvious differences are in the size and styling of the two vehicles. The Model X carries around 600 more pounds (272 kilograms) of weight than its sibling, which should be a disadvantage in the drag-race format.
The drivers took the Teslas to the track and set them loose on a quarter-mile (about 0.4 kilometer) strip after making sure they were both completely charged up. So how did they perform? The Model S edged the Model X, but not by much. Through multiple passes, the X consistently ran times of just over 11.6 seconds, while the S ran between 11.3 and 11.5 seconds.
DragTimes says the Model X's 11.61-second run down the strip set a new world record for a production SUV. It went from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Compare that with the Bentley Bentayga, which had been called the world's fastest production SUV in 2015. The Bentayga does 0 to 60 in 4 seconds.
What's extra fun about watching Teslas drag race is how quiet the whole affair is. There's some tire noise, but none of the furious roar you usually hear with dragsters. Listen for yourself below.
