Dead dinosaurs tell no tales, but their tails live on.
ASOSOpen the door, get on the floor. Everybody walk (like) a dinosaur! The 1988 song by Was (Not Was) can come true for you this Halloween -- or really, any random day -- with a strap-on dinosaur tail.
The tails are in the inventory of British retailer ASOS, and the $40 dinosaur tail (£30, AU$53) comes in green and black, though only the green seems to be in stock. If you prefer a cuddlier costume accessory, the site sells cat, fox, wolf and leopard tails, all ranging from $19.34-$40.
Maker Tell Tails.com notes that the green tail is from a (fictional, duh) Shinosaur, and is made of velvet, for fancy dinosaur occasions.
"Our shimmering diva. Our shining star," the site boasts. "This eccentric fancy dress tail has a certain je ne sais quoi. Set the dance floor on fire as you shimmy and simmer in all your finery."
The tails would've probably gone mostly uoticed but for starting to show up seemingly randomly in Facebook feeds over the weekend -- sometimes paired with inexplicable other objects.
Wrote UK writer Ryan Barrell:
Actually, though, my favorite tail for sale is this shiny purple lizard tail, which is sadly out of stock.
The tails ingeniously belt around your waist with an almost seat-belt-like closure, which is a huge improvement over my kid's last cat Halloween costume that limply Velcroed it onto her butt.
The internet may be bemused by the tail trend, but you might want to stock up on these clever costume accessories before October 31 stomps onto the calendar. Who knows who long it'll be before they're all extinct?
