Description

Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush, who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah's voice explains that there are 13 reasons she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out why. Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a first-hand witness to Hannah's pain, and learns the truth about himself - a truth he never wanted to face.

This book is a must read for all teens and older

I'm part of a group that reads books before they come out (ARCs or, galleys). I read and reviewed Edwards's Eyes, and now i am doing Thirteen Reasons Why. All I can say about this book is... WOW. I read it in July, and since then almost my whole galley group has read and cherished the book. More importantly, this book is important to me because it shows how the smallest things can affect someone into ending their life. That is something that all teenagers in America need to understand. The jokes and jeers that are thrown around as easily as the wind have, as Hannah says "the snowball affect". I know. It's happened to me. Not as seriously of course, but surely. I know how she feels, when you are pushed so far, and the smallest, most looked over thing, the only thing you have left for secruity is taken from you... it hurts. It is not something you want to experience. This book portrays perfectly that events can be pushed overboard, completely hidden but there. Read Thirteen Reasons Why.

I stayed up until 2 in the morning, unable to put the book down

Hannah Baker has to be my new best friend. Thirteen Reasons Why was a book that my mom bought for me. I figured it would be one of those cliched dramas about some stupid girl who got pregnant and didn't want to face the consequence. Boy, was I wrong! The passion that this story holds is extraordinary, but the message is even deeper. It shows what happens beyond the eyes of a seemingly innocent girl, and what can go on when people take their jokes and rumors too far. Hannah lost friends, connections, and eventually couldn't even look at herself in the mirror. I cried when I read the book, especially at the end. You would never believe what could take place with people who you think care about you. The book does have a lot of sensuality and sexuallity, but Hannah explains herself in the sofest aand kindest way possible. Because what did she have to lose? Hannah couldn't escape. She had bottled herself up too much. From being called things like a slu* to actually witnessing a rape, Hannah couldn't control herself any longer. Unfortunately things like this do happen when people aren't paying attention. Unfortunately not many people even care. This book shows you how to love and appreciate someone before their gone, before they take their life away from themelves. If I could rate it higher than a 5, I would. Parents and teens should read it. They will be surprised. I know I was. I hope anyone who has gone though this kind of torture will rest in peace, at last, and I hope anyone who caused them to turn to death will suffer a terrible consquence. WE LOVE YOU HANNAH BAKER!!!!!!! ;(

Chilling

I loved this book. I think that teens and parents alike should read this book. It is so chilling to listen as hannah describes seemingly innocent encounters as some of her worst nightmares. Helped me to remember that what we say and do comes back to us in the end. Read it and do what hannah does and pass it on!
