Chewbacca actor to tweet original 'Star Wars' script, hints at epic news - CNET

As any true Star Wars fan will tell you, one of George Lucas' original scripts for the first movie was called "The Adventures of Luke Starkiller as taken from the 'Joual of the Whills.'" Now, Peter Mayhew, the actor who plays Chewbacca in the epic franchise, will release that script a few pages at a time on his Twitter page, TheWookieRoars.

"Starting today I'll post a few pages from my original @StarWars script each day leading up to a big announcement," the 7-foot-3-inch actor wrote Wednesday on Twitter. That tweet was accompanied by images of the well-wo cover of the script complete with a Star Wars sticker, along with three pages of the document.

No one's quite sure what the big announcement will be, but we can only hope it'll have something to do with the next film in the series. Filming for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" began earlier this week. Mayhew will don the Chewbacca outfit again, though a stand-in will do some of the trickier scenes. The 71-year-old, who had a double knee replacement in 2013, has some knee issues, says CinemaBlend.

This script has been available online before now, but it's still fascinating to see the actual copy that such an iconic sci-fi figure has held on to since it was typed up in 1976 -- smudges, coffee stains and all.

One of the most interesting finds in the script is the description of R2-D2 as a "short claw-armed tripod." Equally fun is the description of Luke Starkiller, "a farm boy with heroic aspirations who looks much younger than his twenty-two years. His curly hair and baggy tunic give him the air of a simple, but lovable lad with a prize-winning smile."

Luke's first line in this early version of the script is also pretty wonderful, but you'll just have to wait for Mayhew's next tweet to see that in its original form.
