Updated 03/01/2016: After leaking to the web on the eve of its debut, the Centenario was officially unveiled today in Geneva. We've updated the article with fresh details and pictures from the show floor.
In celebration of Ferruccio Lamborghini's 100th birthday, the eponymous brand presented the Lamborghini Centenario limited edition at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland today. The vehicle was leaked online Monday when a video announcement briefly appeared on YouTube and was promptly pulled just moments later. Like all of Lambo's special-edition hypercars, the Centenario is an aggressive and powerful concept.
It's powered by a naturally aspirated, 6.5-liter V-12 engine that produces 770 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque. Power flows through the automaker's 7-speed ISR gearbox before being split between all four wheels via a Haldex all-wheel drive system. The Centenario is, essentially, a Lamborghini Aventador with the performance wick tued all the way up.
With a body built entirely from carbon fiber -- from the monocoque to the body panels and trims bits -- the Centenario shaves about 121 pounds (55 kg) of dry weight when compared to the Aventador. More power and less mass means that it rockets from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds. Zero to 186 mph (300 km/h) happens in just 23.5 seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 218 mph (350 km/h).
At such ludicrous speeds, the vehicle's rear wing extends, providing more downforce and stability.
The Centenario will see an extremely limited run: Lambo is only producing 20 coupes and 20 roadsters. Don't rush for your wallet just yet. All 40 of the supercars have already been sold.
