  • Snapchat Discover serves up a Serena Williams tennis game - CNET

  • Enlarge Image Screenshot by Luke Lancaster/CNET She looked good as ever in the US Open's first round, so it's appropriate that Snapchat is showcasing Serena Williams' 22 major touament victories.Snapchat Discover usually makes use of the platform's photo and video sharing to serve up ads, but the ESPN channel has offered up something a little more engaging than the usual multimedia fare with the Serena Williams' Match Point game. Each of the pro's 22 major touament wins are showcased with faithfully recreated set dressing (or as close as 8-bit graphics can get you). The game is based around a single tap on the screen to aim your retus left or right and you only need a single point to win each match, so you'll probably blitz through Serena's 15-year career in a couple of minutes. If you're unable to access the game on Snapchat (as we are in Australia, boo hiss), you can still play it for free on spons, ...ادامه مطلب

  • This dongle will let you know if your car is about to breakdown - Roadshow

  • RoadshowNewsThis dongle will let you know if your car is about to breakdownSingapore startup Carmen has plans to make your car smarter, and it's doing so by tapping into the power of the cloud. Much like Verizon's Hum service in the US, Carmen uses an On Board Diagnostic reader that's connected to your phone via Bluetooth, reads your car data through an app and then uploads it to the cloud for analysis -- providing real time driving data on your phone. If your car is in danger of suffering a breakdown, either due to a failing battery or engine, you'll be alerted through SMS or the mobile app. You can also read a history of your jouey through an online dashboard. In the event that a breakdown does happen, Carmen says a future version of the app will allow a user to contact a workshop through the app to get the car towed and serviced. While this all sounds great, there's a slight catch. OBD ports are only found in cars made after around 2009, and Carmen's device currently only works with, ...ادامه مطلب

  • What will you sacrifice to make way for the new USB? - CNET

  • Enlarge ImageMy MacBook Pro today is maxed out, and I'm worried future models with USB-C will leave me without enough ports. Stephen Shankland/CNET Apple's next MacBook Pro will help move us all into the future of personal computing. But it could also bring some big headaches along the way.I'm confident it'll remain a powerful machine while getting lighter and smaller. But I'm worried that one new technology that enables that slimming down, the versatile USB Type-C port, will also mean the MacBook Pro and other heavy-duty laptops will leave me in the lurch.USB-C is flexible enough to handle just about anything you can plug into a laptop. I'm not sure we're yet ready to have it push aside other useful ports, like HDMI video and 3.5mm audio, the way they've already pushed aside Etheet jacks and SD card slots. And I'm conceed there won't be enough USB-C ports to make up for the loss of the old ports. The,what will your baby look like, what will you do,what will your verse be,what will your son look like, what will you be when you grow up,what will your daughter look like, what will you take away from this experience, what will your legacy be,what will you bring to the team, what will you be in your next life ...ادامه مطلب

  • How will driverless cars make life or death choices? Google exec admits he doesn't know - CNET

  • Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.Enlarge ImageWhere on the dashboard is its moral compass? KAREN BLEIER/AFP/GettyImages I think of morality as a feather that shifts in the wind and occasionally brushes your face delightfully as it falls to earth.I'm still perturbed, however, whether technology has a fine grasp of it. Or whether it can.I'm moved by the news that Uber has launched its driverless vehicles in Pittsburgh. It crossed my mind whether these cars have already been programmed whom to kill if they face a moral dilemma. For example, the car is about to hit another car with three people inside. It can swerve out of the way, but then it'll hit three children standing on the sidewalk. How does it make the choice? • William Shatner talks Star Wars, Pokemon Go and 'Twilight Zone' monsters - CNET

  • Enlarge ImageWilliam Shatner entertains the crowd at the Star Trek convention. Amanda Kooser/CNET A 6,000-seat theater in Las Vegas was filled to capacity on Saturday with Star Trek fans, many of them costumed as their favorite aliens or Starfleet officers. They gathered to listen to William Shatner, Capt. Kirk himself, in a Q&A session with Adam Malin, co-founder of Creation Entertainment, the producer of the 50th anniversary convention in Vegas. Shatner shared familiar stories of pranks he played on original-series co-stars Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley, but things got both strange and profound when fans stepped up to microphones on the theater floor and asked questions. A young boy named Lincoln, dressed in a blue "Next Generation" uniform, laid out a question that Shatner admitted he had never heard before in all his 50 years of answering Star Trek queries. Lincoln wondered what Shatner would have done in the famous "Twilight Zone" episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" if he had looked out the plane window and see the Go on the wing instead of the little fuzzy monster that was out there. The Go was the lizard-like creature that tried to kill Kirk in the Trek episode called "Arena."
