RoadshowNewsSUVsPorsche's first real utility vehicle dates back to the 1950sEnlarge ImageThis thing is positively awesome. Bonhams The story usually goes that Porsche built its first SUV, the Cayenne, in order to keep the lights on while it continued to build sports cars. But Porsche's first utility vehicle was not, in fact, the Cayenne. It was actually the Jagdwagen, which is not only a sweet name, but also a pretty beefy 4x4.As with other utility vehicles that came about in the mid-20th century, the Jagdwagen was built for military use. It was positioned as a spiritual brother to Volkswagen's Kübelwagen and the Willys MB. Sadly, it never made it to production, as Germany's army chose to award its contract ...
ادامه مطلب RoadshowNewsCar IndustryPorsche's electric Mission E will be a job creatorIt's gorgeous and it creates jobs -- seriously, it should run for office. Porsche Maybe Porsche should run for President. When it comes time to build its all-new, electric sports car, Porsche plans to add a number of jobs within its ranks. Looking to work with the German automaker? Now's your chance, maybe.Porsche originally estimated that its Mission E project would add some 1,000 jobs. Now, it's upping that estimate to 1,400. It will also expand its number of available apprenticeships from 150 to 220, Reuters reports. Most of the jobs will be located at Porsche's Zuffenhausen facilities, where a new paint shop and assembly line will...

ادامه مطلب RoadshowNewsCar CulturePorsches, Porsches, Porsches and some other stuff: Our week on InstagramSome weeks, there's a good, overarching theme to bring together our plea to have you follow us on Instagram. If you haven't figured it out by this point, we've got a pretty solid theme going this week. If you actually haven't figured it out by this point, how are you clicking through to articles without reading the title? I'm actually impressed, if that's the case.Carfection's week was dominated by the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman, a car that's ditched its flat-six engine in favor of something that sounds like a broken Subaru. Alex also checked out his local Formula E race, and Drew snagged some awesome pictures from the Formula 1 race at Silverstone. Not a bad week, not a bad week at all.As for Roads...
ادامه مطلب RoadshowNewsCoupesPorsche recalls all the 918 Spyders out of an abundance of cautionSome automakers are content to recall small batches of vehicles based on a decently large issue. Others are willing to eat the negative PR involved with a full-line recall. Porsche falls into the latter category this time, as it's recalled every single one of its 918 Spyder hypercars for an issue with two screws.According to Porsche, the 918's own original parts catalog has a misprint, swapping two unique screws -- one for the seat belt mount, and one for the belt reel mount. They're one-time-use screws, so once they're in, they aren't meant to come back out. Porsche is conce ed that this catalog error could result in incorrect screws being used in its 918 Spyder, so it's recalled the whole lot of 'em.When ...

ادامه مطلب RoadshowCar CulturePorsche Design's $3,000 soundbar includes a 911 GT3 mufflerEnlarge ImageWhy this is filed under "For Men" on Porsche Design's website has yet to be determined. Porsche Design Surely, at some point in history, a human being has retu ed from a long night of drinking and decided to create a sound system using car-exhaust components. In fact, it appears that a whole company's worth of decision-makers did exactly that, because Porsche Design will sell you a soundbar built from a muffler.
