Final Fantasy 15 director talks about delay - CNET

  • Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has spoken up again to talk about why it was decided that the long-awaited and much-anticipated game be delayed from September to November.Speaking with Famitsu, as translated by and reported on by Kotaku, Tabata started off by stating that "the optimization isn't [yet] sufficient." There are "various bugs" throughout the game, while frame rate is not holding to its 30 FPS target as well as Square Enix would like. Some of Final Fantasy XV's bugs won't keep players from advancing (a lot of games have bugs like this), but there are others that Tabata hopes can be fixed before release. "There are still of number of bugs like characters floating unnaturally in the air or appearing all strange [and glitchy]," he explained. Square Enix Tabata also talked about how one of his goals with the two months of extra development time is to "refine the game balance," though no fur, final fantasy 15,final fantasy 15 release date, final fantasy 15 kingsglaive, final fantasy 15 pc,final fantasy 15 trailer, final fantasy 15 gameplay, final fantasy 15 characters, final fantasy 15 demo, final fantasy 15 anime, final fantasy 15 brotherhood ...ادامه مطلب

  • Tesla posts $150 million Q2 loss, may miss 2016 delivery targets - Roadshow

  • RoadshowNewsCar IndustryTesla posts $150 million Q2 loss, may miss 2016 delivery targetsTesla has posted Q2 2016 eaings and, while the word isn't resoundingly terrible, there's more bad news to be found than good. We'll start with the good, Tesla posting $1.56 billion in non-GAAP revenue for Q2. That's up from $1.2 billion in the same period last year. Total vehicle deliveries of 14,402 (9,764 Model S, 4,638 Model X) is also a big bump from this period last year, when Tesla shipped 11,507 vehicles. Tesla also says that average price of the Model S is up three percent. That's the good, here's the bad: Tesla posted a $150 million non-GAAP loss, which amounts to $1.06 per share. That's about double what analysts had figured. The company is also looking like it may come up short on its goal of delivering 80,000 cars this year, as it shipped 14,820 in Q1. So, we're still well-short of half. However, Tesla indicated that "almost half" of its Q2 production occurred in the last four weeks of the quarter, meaning we're on a pretty serious ramp -- assuming that rate continues.Despite all that, Tesla's stock price seems to be weathering the bad news, in after-hours trading up a few points from its $225.79 close. It's been on a strong rally over the past month since the initial announcement of a merger with SolarCity, a deal that was initially met with a fair bit of skepticism. The official opening of the Gigafactory last week is also surely helping to buoy investor spirits. Whether that will be enough to keep them motivated all the way through until Tesla tuing profitable, however, remains to be seen.Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • BMW finally gets go-ahead to sell 2017 diesel models - Roadshow

  • RoadshowNewsDiesel CarsBMW finally gets go-ahead to sell 2017 diesel modelsWhile diesels don't make up a large portion of BMW's sales, it must be a bummer for the small number of buyers that really do want a diesel Bimmer. Christof Stache/AFP/Getty Images When the EPA announced that it would place extra scrutiny on approving new vehicles in the wake of Volkswagen's diesel debacle, it was assumed that there'd be a number of delays. After an incredibly lengthy review process, BMW finally got approval to sell its 2017 diesel vehicles in the US.The Environmental Protection Agency approved BMW's 2017 diesels for sale on Friday, an EPA representative told Reuters. "We tested the vehicles every which way from Sunday," said Chris Grundler, who runs the EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality. Diesels represent about four percent of BMW's US sales. While BMW received approval, Daimler is still waiting on the go-ahead to sell its MY2017 Mercedes-Benz diesel models. I reported earlier this week that the C-Class diesel is delayed, likely until 2017, because of this new scrutiny on diesel approvals. Thankfully, similar to BMW, diesels don't comprise a large portion of the brand's US sales.Nevertheless, it's likely that we'll see delays of this ilk continue for the foreseeable future. Volkswagen really screwed the regulatory pooch when it admitted to willfully deceiving the feds by installing software meant to curtail emissions in lab tests. That ace move will cost the company about $15 billion in the US alone.Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • Vevo signs on Warner Music's videos, finally hitting major-label trifecta - CNET

  • Videos by Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin, are among the first that Vevo will add from its agreement with Waer Music. Tabatha Fireman/Getty Images Online music-video company Vevo said Tuesday is has sealed a license with the last of the three major labels, Waer Music Group, to add selections of Waer's official videos into the Vevo library. It already has videos from the two other majors, Universal Music and Sony Music Entertainment, which together own Vevo. (YouTube's parent Google and outside investor Abu Dhabi Media also hold stakes.)For Vevo, Waer Music checks off a big box as it prepares to launch a subscription service. Aiming to set up a service that it hopes is worth paying for, Vevo also revamped its app last month for the second time in less than a year. Vevo's ambition is to build a sleek app catering to music video lovers strongly enough to get them to subscribe Vevo or watch more there, even though they can already do the same on YouTube. Waer was crucial for launching with a complete product. Waer's deal with Vevo marks a flurry of activity for the label's video catalog. Last week, Waer was the first of the majors to license its videos to Vadio, a start-up that plugs in official music-video feeds into apps and websites.Tuesday, Vevo and Waer said select "premium" videos from Waer Music Group artists would be added to Vevo.com and the Vevo mobile app within days. Waer's conglomeration of labels include artists like Bruno Mars, Coldplay, the Grateful Dead, the Black Keys, Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, Skrillex, Neil Young and Blake Shelton. • Sprint finally starts to turn heads, but at a hefty cost - CNET

  • Consumers are starting to hear Sprint now. The nation's fourth-largest wireless carrier has long struggled to get the attention of consumers, who for years were tued off by its poor reputation for coverage and reliability. Having shored up some of those network issues, Sprint has clamoring for more attention. It hired Verizon's longtime "Can you hear me now?" pitchman, Paul Marcarelli, to make the case that Sprint is good enough and affordable enough to warrant a second look. It jumped on the Pokemon Go phenomenon by adding lures to its stores and offering experts for tips on the game (after T-Mobile said that data from the game wouldn't count against their plan for the next year). CEO Marcelo Claure has been on the road visiting local stores and listening to his customers. Most importantly, Sprint has vowed significant savings for anyone willing to switch. The moves have paid off with a retu to growth. Sprint on Monday said it added 173,000 net new post-paid customers, or folks who have higher credit scores and pay at the end of the month, in the fiscal first quarter. That's the highest number of net new customers in nine years when excluding customers it gained from its acquisition of Nextel. The numbers reflect the state of competition in the wireless business, where even the once battered Sprint brand can see a retu to growth thanks to the power of price cuts. Sprint is one of many carrier bending over backwards to win over your business, whether it's through lower prices, free pizzas and movies rentals or new rate plans with perks. But as with prior quarters, that growth has come at a cost. Sprint posted a fiscal first-quarter loss of $302 million, or 8 cents a share, wider than its year-ago loss of $20 million, or 1 cent a share. Revenue slipped to $8.01 billion from $8.03 billion a year ago. Analysts, on average, expect a loss of 8 cents a share on revenue of $8 billion, according to Thomson Reuters. In total, Sprint added 377,000 total new customers in the qu, ...ادامه مطلب

  • Apple Watch's first role-playing game coming from creators of Final Fantasy - CNET

  • Square Enix Square Enix, creator of the venerable Final Fantasy video game series, has launched a teaser website for a new role-playing game that will launch not on a powerful next-gen console, but on the humble Apple Watch. The website calls the game Cosmos Rings, and simply states it's coming soon. It's safe to assume that the specific mention of "Apple Watch", rather than "smartwatches" means that this won't be a game for Android Wear devices. It's not known what form the game will take, with only the small teaser image to go on, and that may not be representative of final gameplay. The watch's small screen doesn't lend itself to graphically intense gaming using traditional on-screen controls, so I expect to see a far more stripped-back experience. I wouldn't be surprised either to see a game that makes use of GPS, to rival the phenomenally popular Pokemon Go.I've asked Square Enix for more information on the game -- including whether it will see a release beyond the company's native Japan -- and will update this article if I hear back. • Now this may finally get you to use mobile payments - CNET

  • Enlarge ImageMastercard is expanding its Masterpass platform into mobile payments in stores. Mastercard How many in-store purchases did you make last year using your phone? If you're like most Americans, the answer is none.Hoping to make mobile payments just a little more accessible, Mastercard and 17 banks teamed up Thursday to let customers pay for stuff using bank apps on their phones. Citi, Bank of America, Fifth Third Bank and KeyBank are among the institutions adding mobile payments -- the ability to wave your phone or smartwatch at a payment terminal to make a purchase -- directly to their apps. Capital One, another partner, already has added this feature to its app.The new feature will only be available to owners of Android phones that have built-in near-field communication, or NFC, chips. The new partnership comes amid a ton of work being done to reinvent the way we pay for things by using our phones and smartwatches and other doodads. Tech companies like Apple and Google led the way into mobile payments, and the concept is now interesting enough that banks want to get more involved, which may nudge mobile payments more into mainstream use.By adding mobile payments directly to their apps, these banks also may be able to gain more control over their customers, instead of simply handing them off to digital wallets like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay and PayPal. While tens of millions of customers will have access to this new Mastercard-powered payment option, the folks left out will be Apple iPhone users. That's because Apple doesn't permit other companies to use the NFC chip in its phones, which powers Apple Pay.James Anderson, Mastercard's executive vice president of digital payment products, said banks' ability to provide more information, including balances and rental car coverage, alongside mobile payments, could give these apps a leg up over services like Apple Pay. , ...ادامه مطلب
